The company behind CompleteTax, The CCH Group has been in the business of preparing income taxes since 1913. The software allows free tax filing for simple returns. CompleteTax offers four different packages of its’ software, and users can choose the one that will fulfill their need. The four packages are Free, Basic, Deluxe and Premium.Free
The free package is for someone that has a simple return. They are single and have no children. As the name suggests, this package allows for free tax filing.

Basic
The basic package is for folks that have kids, a home and have made charitable donations during the year. This package is recommended for returning customers of CompleteTax because they can pull up your previous year’s return and auto fill many fields for you, thus reducing the time you spend on the computer filling forms. The basic package to prepare tax returns costs $14.95.

Deluxe
The deluxe is ideal for people that have investments like stock and bonds and have retirement income. Their returns are more complex than the average user. The deluxe package of CompleteTax tax software costs $29.95.

Premium
People that are self-employed, own businesses or have income from rental properties would benefit from the premium package tax software. They would have fairly complex tax returns. The premium package costs $49.95.

CompleteTax charges $24.95 to file state taxes online. This charge a bit more than what some of the other software that we looked at charge.
